Abstract
The
study aimed to determine the extent of
faculty support and its relationship to the students’ achievements and stress
levels. The descriptive-correlational research design was used in this
research. The participants for this study were all the 3rd year diploma III nursing
students in Nusa Utara State Polytechnic located in Tahuna, North Sulawesi
Province, Indonesia. For the extent of faculty support, students received high
support from them in the terms of psychological support, and high support from
the faculty in terms of functional support. Over all, students received high
support from the faculty. Students in this study perceived high level of achievement
in terms of knowledge and skills, and very high level of achievement in terms
of attitude. Over all, students performed high level of achievement. In this
study of the nursing program, students experienced high level of stress in the
academic, moderate level of stress in the clinical, and moderate level of
stress in their personal lives. Furthermore, the study revealed that there is a
significant relationship between faculty support and students achievement;
there is no significant relationship between faculty support and student
nurses stress; and there is no significant relationship between students’
achievement and student nurses stress. The result of this study showed that the
support received by the students from the faculty is a significant intervention
which can improve the students’ achievement.
